Actuate

Actuate provides software and services to develop and deploy custom business intelligence and information applications. In practice that means managing your IT, from help desk to infrastructure, as an outside partner.

It makes the most sense for small and mid-sized companies. Related areas on their profile: Analytics, Big Data, Business Intelligence, Open Source and Predictive Analytics. They are a large team, 501 to 1,000 people, which usually shapes who they work with. At that size expect formal onboarding, documentation and a longer sales cycle.

Actuate is based in San Mateo, California and around since 1993. You can read more at actuate.com.

Things worth asking about: response SLAs, onboarding, and what is billed per hour. Ask for a trial on your own data, not a canned demo.

If you have worked with Actuate, tell the next buyer what you paid and what surprised you. That is the part of this page we cannot write.
