Software Consulting Associates

Software Consulting Associates provides software for property assessment, tax collection, licensing, utility billing and citizen engagement. In practice that means designing and building iOS and Android apps.

The natural audience is businesses launching or rebuilding an app. They also list Mobile Apps, so expect those to show up in the feature set. They are a small team, 11 to 50 people, which usually shapes who they work with. You will probably talk to the people who build it, which is great until you need 24/7 support.

Software Consulting Associates is based in Red Hook, New York. Their site is municitysoftware.com.

Things worth asking about: portfolio quality, app store experience, and maintenance terms. Get the renewal terms in writing before the first invoice.
