HipChat

HipChat is a private group chat and IM network that provides real-time collaboration features for companies and teams. Put simply, it is about running projects, docs and workflows in one shared workspace.

Who is it for? Mostly teams that want fewer tools. They also list Collaboration and Messaging, so expect those to show up in the feature set. As a very small product team themselves (1 to 10 people), they tend to serve customers of a similar scale best. You will probably talk to the people who build it, which is great until you need 24/7 support.
