Vertrax

Vertrax is a provider of business management software and training to retail propane and fuel oil businesses. The job it does: building software for you when nothing off the shelf fits.

The natural audience is companies with a specific process to automate. As a small company team themselves (11 to 50 people), they tend to serve customers of a similar scale best. You will probably talk to the people who build it, which is great until you need 24/7 support.

Vertrax is based in New Haven, Connecticut. You can read more at vertrax.com.

Things worth asking about: portfolio relevance, who owns the code, and how they handle changes. A short pilot with your real data tells you more than any demo.
