Society of Women Engineers

Society of Women Engineers (SWE) empowers women to excel in the field of engineering and to be recognized for their contributions. The job it does: building software for you when nothing off the shelf fits.

The natural audience is companies with a specific process to automate. Alongside the main category they mention Civil Engineering, Consulting, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Software Engineering. As a small company team themselves (11 to 50 people), they tend to serve customers of a similar scale best. You will probably talk to the people who build it, which is great until you need 24/7 support.

Society of Women Engineers is based in Chicago, Illinois and founded in 1950. More on societyofwomenengineers.swe.org.

Things worth asking about: portfolio relevance, who owns the code, and how they handle changes. Ask for a trial on your own data, not a canned demo.

If you have worked with Society of Women Engineers, tell the next buyer what you paid and what surprised you. That is the part of this page we cannot write.
