Kidpad

KidPad is a tool designed for children to collaboratively create non-linear stories, allowing them to visually express their thoughts. In practice that means solving a specific business problem with software.

It makes the most sense for teams in its space. They also list Children, Collaboration, Education, Human Computer Interaction and Mobile Apps, so expect those to show up in the feature set. They are a small team, 11 to 50 people, which usually shapes who they work with. You will probably talk to the people who build it, which is great until you need 24/7 support.

Kidpad is based in College Park, Maryland and around since 1995. Their site is cs.umd.edu.

Things worth asking about: pricing, support, and how it fits with the tools you already use. Get the renewal terms in writing before the first invoice.

If you have worked with Kidpad, tell the next buyer what you paid and what surprised you. That is the part of this page we cannot write.
