Kestrel Institute

Kestrel Institute researches on domain-specific synthesis, formal analysis and verification, machine learning, planning and scheduling. Put simply, it is about solving a specific business problem with software.

It makes the most sense for teams in its space. Alongside the main category they mention Artificial Intelligence (AI), Education, Machine Learning, Non Profit and Software Engineering. They are a small team, 11 to 50 people, which usually shapes who they work with. Small vendors mean quick answers and real influence on the roadmap, but check who covers support when someone is out.

Kestrel Institute is based in Palo Alto, California. Their site is kestrel.edu.
