Balena

Balena is a complete set of tools for building, deploying, and managing fleets of connected IoT devices. In practice that means connecting machines, sensors and robots to software that controls or monitors them.

It makes the most sense for manufacturers and operators. Alongside the main category they mention Internet of Things, Open Source and PaaS. As a mid-sized product team themselves (51 to 200 people), they tend to serve customers of a similar scale best.

Balena is based in Seattle, Washington. Their site is balena.io.

Things worth asking about: hardware compatibility, uptime, and support. Get the renewal terms in writing before the first invoice.

If you have worked with Balena, tell the next buyer what you paid and what surprised you. That is the part of this page we cannot write.
