EightShapes

EightShapes designs web-based products and systems that make for beautiful, usable, cohesive experiences. The job it does: connecting machines, sensors and robots to software that controls or monitors them.

It makes the most sense for manufacturers and operators. Alongside the main category they mention Product Design, Robotics and Web Design. They are a small team, 11 to 50 people, which usually shapes who they work with. You will probably talk to the people who build it, which is great until you need 24/7 support.

EightShapes is based in Fairfax, Virginia and founded in 2006. More on eightshapes.com.
